ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – The Texas Rangers have agreed to acquire pitcher Matt Garza from the Chicago Cubs for third baseman Mike Olt, pitchers C.J. Edwards, Justin Grimm and possibly another player.
The Rangers confirmed the information in a tweet Monday night:

The Rangers had long been considered front-runners for Garza, who is 5-0 with a 1.24 ERA in his past six starts.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports first reported news of the trade on Monday:

Garza, 29, is 6-1 with a 3.17 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 71 innings this season.
He’s set to be a free agent after the 2013 season, so unless there’s a contract extension coming, this is a rental.
